It’s Not Your “Godfather’s” Sicily!

After three weeks in Sicily recently, I came home and immediately enrolled in an Italian class!

Every day brought incredibly delicious pasta and gelato.  The mornings started with “cappuccinis” that shifted to Aperol spritzes by late afternoon.  Sicily has the best lemons, melons, and tomatoes I’ve ever tasted.

Sicily is a grand open-air museum with spectacular cultural landmarks dating back over 7,000 years.  A local told us, “Scratch the surface and thousands of years of human history are layered underneath.”

This amazing landscape presented many photographic opportunities.  Among my favorites:

Siracusa Sunrise, Ortigia Island

Marina Corte Fishing Boats, Lipari Island

Marsala Salt Pans and Windmill

Old Town Ragusa at Night

Forget the Mafia, and put Sicily on your bucket list!
